shaking head

“Shaking head” most often refers online to short reaction clips or GIFs of people or figures rapidly or subtly moving their heads side‑to‑side, widely used as memes to express emotions like disbelief, anger, anxiety, or saying “no.”[1][5][13][15] It also appears in specific viral formats such as the Shaking Mannequin Head meme and the Kevin McCallister Shaking Head (Home Alone) meme.[1][2][5]

Articles from 2019 describe a viral clip of a red‑wigged mannequin’s head violently shaking to SOPHIE’s “Not Okay (Alone Mix),” which became a popular reaction meme on Twitter to represent rage, jitters, and stress.[1][5][13][16][19] Know Your Meme documents later variants like Kevin McCallister Shaking Head, an edited Home Alone animation synced to a watery drum beat that spread on TikTok in 2025, as well as many other shaking‑head GIFs and templates used across meme libraries and editing apps.[2][8][11][17][20]
